NIRMALA KARUPPIAH      (b.1972   Malaysia)

Nirmala Karuppiah works primarily with black and white traditional photography, focusing on documenting traditional Indian dance and landscapes.

She has traveled with dance troupes throughout the region, photographing dancers, audiences, performances, dialogues and silences. She has also extensively photographed urban and rural landscapes of Bangkok, Bali and Malaysia. Currently based in London, she is embarking on a new series, “ London Alleys.”

Her masterful interpretations of these subjects have brought her recognition as a formidable photographic talent with a discerning and elegant eye.
